Abstract

Physical and biochemical properties of dental implants have an important role on their success rate. Previous experiences showed that success rate proportionally increases with surface porosity. Therefore, porous surface is mandatoiy for success. Moreover, recent efforts are focused on surface coating materials and methods to enhance biologic behavior of the implant material. This article reviews recent study results in the literature and tries to profile the future aspect of coating materials and methods of dental implants to address a new target for following studies.
