Abstract
The relationship between literature and sociology demonstrates that poetry is shaped not only by individual sensibility but also by the historical, cultural, and social structure of the city in which it emerges. This study examines the poetics of modern poets raised in Karabük within the framework of the relationship between city and identity. Within the poetic tradition of Karabük, it is possible to speak of a multilayered literary heritage extending from folk poetry and the minstrel tradition to the historical-aesthetic urban culture of Safranbolu and the contemporary/socialist poetic line shaped by post-Republican industrialization. However, this study primarily focuses on the reflections of modern urban experience in poetry. In this context, the poems of poets such as Hüseyin Avni Cinazoğlu, Ömer Bayram Eroğlu, Ahmet Telli and Osman Kiremitçi are analyzed in terms of urban memory, local belonging, cultural continuity, historical urban texture, modern loneliness, alienation, social fragmentation, the tension between provincial life and modernity, individual fragility, and the influence of place on poetic sensibility.
