Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to determine the quality of life levels of individuals diagnosed with low back pain who presented to a medical center in Baghdad, Iraq. Method: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted on 100 patients who presented to Baghdad Medical Center with a diagnosis of back pain between December 20, 2022, and February 28, 2023. Data were collected using a sociodemographic information form prepared by the researcher and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale Short Form (WHOQOL-BREF). Data analysis employed descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, median, minimum-maximum, frequency, and percentage), as well as independent samples t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, and Kruskal-Wallis test. The statistical significance level was accepted as p 0.05). Conclusion: The study results indicate that the quality of life in individuals with low back pain is significantly influenced by socioeconomic factors (income and education). In the management of low back pain, it is recommended to organize educational programs for target groups within the scope of preventive public health practices and to conduct multicenter research on quality of life.
