Abstract

Objective: This study investigated the relationship between treatment compliance and emotional well-being in individuals with type 2 diabetes and identified predictors of compliance. Method: A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with the Type 2 diabetic patients. Data were collected using a personal information form, Patient Compliance Scale in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Treatment, and Emotional Well-Being Scale. Analyses included descriptive statistics, regression, and Pearson correlation, with significance set at p<0.05. Results: The study was completed with 651 patients. The mean compliance score was 80.64±12.16, and the mean emotional well-being score was 47.92±11.94. Hierarchical regression showed that negative and positive emotional well-being, doing exercise, diagnosis period, oral antidiabetic use, hospitalization, body mass index, gender and age explained 32% of compliance. Conclusion: Treatment compliance in type 2 diabetes is multidimensional and influenced by several factors and with emotional well-being emerging as a key component.
