Abstract

The determinants of economic growth are not only the physical structure of labor and capital, it is also based on different determinants such as the nature or technological content of these inputs. There are five main factors contributing to growth. These are the Contribution of Labor Quantity, Contribution of Labor Quality (qualified labor force), Contribution of Capital Services provided by technological Assets, Contribution of Capital Services provided by Nontechnological Assets and finally the total factor productivity determined by the capital with more qualified labor and technological content. It is considered that total factor productivity is also a source of the knowledge-based-driven of economic growth is particularly important as increase the competitiveness of countries in global markets. Therefore, in this study, we were examined the relationship between total factor productivity and economic growth in Turkey between 1950 and 2016 using the Granger causality test.
