Abstract

Cinema, one of today's most important entertainment and art tools, shapes society and is also shaped by society. Analysing cinema with psychoanalytic feminist theory reveals the unconscious gender perceptions of people who both form society and produce art. Taking into account the power of the strong relations between language and ideology to reflect society and art, the film is taken as a text and analysed with a discourse analysis approach. Considering that dreams are true stories of the unconscious full of hidden narratives the dream texts in the film were analysed. Accordingly, it was concluded that women are more in need of sisterhood and solidarity, and that they have very fragile positions in pursuing their dreams as independent individuals. It has been observed that culture is criticised from inside and outside. It is understood that women are left out of the cinema both as representation and as subjects of practices.
