Abstract
In his article titled "Our National Aesthetic Problem," published in the Töre magazine in 1973, Sadık Kemal Tural argued that aesthetic taste is shaped not by individual preferences but by the cultural accumulation a nation has created throughout its history. Over the past half-century, digitalization, globalization, and productive artificial intelligence technologies have fundamentally changed the forms of aesthetic production and circulation. This study re-examines and evaluates Tural's concept of "national aesthetics" in light of cultural memory theories and algorithmic culture discussions. The main argument of the article is that national aesthetics is not an ideological discourse suggesting a return to the past, but rather a thought model that explains the historical and cultural formation of aesthetic taste. This study evaluates the cultural perspectives of Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, Erol Güngör, and Cemil Meriç alongside the theoretical approaches of Maurice Halbwachs, Jan Assmann, Pierre Bourdieu, and Walter Benjamin; and discusses the future of aesthetic memory in the face of global hegemony in the age of generative artificial intelligence.
Özet
1973 yılında Töre dergisinde yayımlanan “Millî Estetik Meselemiz” başlıklı yazısında Sadık Kemal Tural, estetik beğeninin bireysel tercihlerden çok bir milletin tarih boyunca oluşturduğu kültürel birikim içinde şekillendiğini ileri sürmektedir. Aradan geçen yarım asırlık süreçte dijitalleşme, küreselleşme ve üretken yapay zekâ teknolojileri, estetik üretim ve dolaşım biçimlerini köklü biçimde değiştirmiştir. Bu çalışma, Tural’ın “millî estetik” kavramını kültürel hafıza kuramları ve algoritmik kültür tartışmaları ışığında yeniden ele alıp değerlendirmektedir. Makalenin temel iddiası, millî estetiğin geçmişe kapanmayı öneren ideolojik bir söylem olmaktan ziyade, estetik beğeninin tarihsel ve kültürel oluşumunu açıklayan bir düşünce modeli olduğudur. Çalışmada, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, Erol Güngör ve Cemil Meriç’in kültür anlayışları ile Maurice Halbwachs, Jan Assmann, Pierre Bourdieu ve Walter Benjamin’in kuramsal yaklaşımları birlikte değerlendirilmiş; üretken yapay zekâ çağında estetik hafızanın küresel hegemonya karşısındaki geleceği tartışılmıştır.
