Abstract
The Asia-Pacific region, which has gained a more prominent place in world politics for the last 20 years, is divided into various sub-geographies such as south, southeast, east Asia, and Oceania. Turkey's relations with these regional states have not had a comprehensive perspective – from education to culture – until now. When the studies in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language are examined, it has been noticed that region-based studies take up very little space in the literature. Therefore, ın terms of Turkey's relations with the Asia-Pacific regions, this study deals with cultural public diplomacy and language teaching, which can be considered one of the most effective associated tools with it. In this context, the performances of authorized institutions, especially the content of the textbooks, were evaluated. In the final analysis, this study, which is prepared with an interdisciplinary method and focuses on a subject that can be considered a virgin area in the literature, examines whether the Asia-Pacific region is reflected or not in the textbooks for teaching Turkish as a foreign language. Dünya siyasetinde son 20 yıldır daha ağırlıklı bir yer edinen Asya-Pasifik Bölgesi güney, güneydoğu, doğu Asya ve Okyanusya gibi çeşitli alt coğrafyalara ayrılmaktadır. Türkiye’nin bu bölge devletleri ile ilişkileri bugüne kadar – eğitimden kültüre – kapsamlı bir perspektife kavuşamamıştır. Yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretimi alanında yapılan çalışmalar incelendiğinde de bölge merkezli çalışmaların alanyazında çok az yer kapladığı fark edilmiştir. Bu nedenle, Türkiye’nin Asya-Pasifik bölgeleriyle olan ilişkileri açısından bu çalışmada kültürel kamu diplomasisi ve ilintili araçların en etkililerinden biri kabul edilebilecek olan dil öğretimi ele alınmıştır. Bu bağlamda yetkili kurumların performansları ama özellikle ders kitaplarının içerikleri değerlendirilmiştir. Son tahlilde, disiplinlerarası bir yöntemle hazırlanan ve literatürde bakir bir alan sayılabilecek bir konuya odaklanan bu çalışma, yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretimi kitaplarında Asya-Pasifik bölgesinin yansıtılışını ya da yansıtılmayışını irdelemektedir. Ana sorunsalını “ Türkçe öğretim setlerinde Asya-Pasifik Bölgesi kültürel içeriğe nasıl ve ne kadar dâhil edilmektedir?” olarak atayan bu çalışma, kültürel ögelerin yumuşak bir güç faktörü olarak etkin bir dış politika aracı olduğunu savlamaktadır.
