Abstract

Pur-pose: To investigate the clinical, histopathological and epidemiological features of the masses of the eyelids. Material and Methods: 326 eyelid lesions of 281 patients applied to Dr. Lutfi Kirdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital, 1st Eye clinic complaining of eyelid lesion between 1997-2005 were evaluated according to the localizations and the number of lesions, clinical diagnosis, histopathological diagnosis and sex distribution retrospectively and prospectively. Results: 130 (%46.26) of 281 patients were male and 151 (%53.74) were female. The age of the patients ranged between 2 and 80 years (mean 48.2) and the mean follow up period was 32.4 months (between 1-101 months). Histopathological evaluation revealed that 287 (%88.1) of 326 lesions were benign and 39 (%11.9) were malign. The most frequently seen benign masses were chalazion 94 masses (32.76%), squamous papilloma 46 masses, (16.02%), intradermal nevus 22 masses (7.66%X,xanthelasma 20 masses (6.96%), seborrheic keratosis 16 masses, (5.57%). The most frequently seen malign eyelid tumor was basal cell carcinoma (BCC) 30 masses, (76.92 %), and the others were squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), 6 (15.40 %), malignant melanoma (MM) 1 mass (2.56%), sebaceous gland carcinoma (SGC) 1 (2.56%), Non Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) 1 mass (2.56%), respectively.

Bulgular: 281 hastanın 130'u erkek (%46.26), 151'i (%53.74) kadındı.
