Abstract

It has been decided to use nuclear energy in order to meet the increasing energy needs of Turkey. For this purpose, the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Mersin Akkuyu was started. Turkey's acquaintance with nuclear energy has brought many discussions. Especially in the case of a nuclear power plant accident, the risk of harm to human health and the environment is considerable. Since the most recent nuclear power plant accident in terms of time is the Fukushima Daiici Nuclear Power Plant accident, the issue of determining the liability and compensation arising from nuclear power plants in the event of a similar accident in Turkey, by making an example with this accident, has been tried to be examined with this study. In this context, the role of force majeure in nuclear power plant accidents is also emphasized.
