Abstract

Sustainable living and the solution of environmental problems depend on a lifesyle in which natural processes are respected. Green infrastructure is a spatial planning approach that emerged with this philosophy. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the applicability of green infrastructure systems in Turkey in spatial planning processes. For this purpose, the Spatial Plans Preparation Regulation dated 14.06.2014 and numbered 29030 and the Metropolitan Municipalities Law dated 06.12.2012 and numbered 6360 were examined in the context of the protection of green infrastructure components and the provision of connectivity between them. The relevant jurisdictions and provisions in both legislation have been put forward and evaluated. The results show that there are insufficiencies regarding both the legal arrangements and administrative regulations.
