Abstract

Digital technologies have become an integral part of individuals' daily lives. The intensive and continuous use of these technologies creates psychosocial pressures on individuals, paving the way for the emergence of digital stress. The study sample consisted of 519 university students enrolled in the 2024-2025 academic year. For data analysis, the independent samples t-test was used to examine differences between two independent groups, while One-Way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was applied for comparisons involving three or more groups. In addition, when significant differences were detected in the analysis results, the Scheffé multiple comparison test was used to determine which groups were responsible for these differences. To evaluate the effect size of the findings, eta-squared (η²) values were calculated in multigroup analyses. The research findings revealed significant differences in the subdimensions of digital stress based on the variables of students’ multidimensional digital stress levels, age, time spent online, general stress levels, and the primary purpose of internet use (p<.05). It was observed that the rapid advancement in technology became a source of stress by increasing participants' accessibility stress, fear of rejection, fear of missing out, connection load, and online attention pressure. The challenges that come with the conveniences of this digital age also have a significant impact on participants' stress levels. It is evident that multidimensional digital stress is a significant issue for individuals and that there is a need for preventive and protective measures to be developed.
