Abstract
Religion has been one of the fundamental elements of social structure since the earliest periods of human history, interpreted and practiced differently in every society. Consequently, while religious education is a universal field, each country has developed its own model shaped by its historical, cultural, and political conditions. The current state of religious education in Turkic States has been strongly influenced by past experiences, particularly the anti-religious policies, cultural assimilation efforts, and systematic weakening of religious institutions during the Tsarist Russian and Soviet eras. The Soviet period deprived societies of religious learning opportunities and alienated them from their own spiritual identities. Since the 1990s, with the independence of the Turkic States, interest in religion and religious education has revived, and societies have sought to strengthen their ties with their national and spiritual roots. This study first examines the historical and sociopolitical background of the Turkic States, followed by their general and religious education structures. It then analyzes constitutional regulations and educational policies, evaluating religious education models, curricula, and teacher-training systems in a comparative framework. In doing so, it highlights both the common features and the differences in religious education across these states.
