Born in Trabzon in 1960, Emin Âşıkkutlu, currently the Rector of Trabzon University, completed his Aşere-i Takrib education under Hafız Mehmet Rüştü Âşıkkutlu (d. 1400/1980), the son of Ahmed Cemaleddin, a teacher from a family with an ancient scholarly tradition. 1960 yılında Trabzon’da doğmuş ve şu anda Trabzon Üniversitesi Rektörlüğünü yürü-ten Emin Âşıkkutlu, kadîm bir ilim geleneği olan bir ailenin öğretmen olan Ahmed Cemaleddin’in oğlu Hâfız Mehmet Rüştü Âşıkkutlu’dan (ö.1400/1980) Aşere-i Takrîb eğitimini tamamlamıştır. 1983 yılında Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi’nde lisansını, 1985 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü’nde yüksek lisan-sını tamamlamıştır. 1985 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi Hadis Anabilim Dalı’na araştırma görevlisi olarak atanmıştır. 1992 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü’nde doktorasını tamamlamıştır. 2003 yılında doçent olmuştur. 2016 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi İlâhiyat Fakültesi’nden Karadeniz Teknik Üniversi-tesi İlâhiyat Fakültesi’ne naklen geçiş yapmıştır. 18 Mayıs 2018 tarihinde Trabzon Üniversitesi'nin Rektörlüğüne atanmıştır. 31 Ağustos 2010 tarihinde Trabzon Üniversi-tesi İlahiyat Fakültesi Dekan Vekilliğine atanmış, 26 Haziran 2025 tarihinde görevini Prof. Dr. Cemil Hakyemez’e devretmiştir.
