Abstract
This academic study explores the profound linguistic impact of the Prophetic Hadith on instrumental nouns (Ism al-Āla) within the Arabic language. It rigorously demonstrates that the Hadith served as a primary catalyst for introducing specialized terminology that was entirely absent during the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah). Through an exhaustive analysis, the research identifies eighteen specific instrumental nouns that were either newly coined or strategically revived by the Hadith. These terms are notably absent from extant pre-Islamic literature, including both classical poetry and prose. Utilizing descriptive and historical methodologies, the study meticulously traces the etymological origins of these nouns, their subsequent adoption into the lexicon, and any related derivatives emerging from the same linguistic roots. The motivation for this research stems from a significant void in prior linguistic scholarship and a desire to clarify the Hadith’s role in shaping Arabic morphology. The inquiry focuses on several key questions: How did the Hadith transform instrumental noun structures? Which specific terms emerged? Was this influence restricted to morphological form, or did it extend to semantic shifts? Findings reveal that terms like mīḍa'ah (an ablution vessel) and mi‘rāj (a vehicle for ascension) were direct products of Islamic rituals and events, lacking any pre-Islamic precedent. Ultimately, the study concludes that the Hadith’s influence was twofold, altering either the morphological structure alone or both form and meaning simultaneously.
Özet
Bu çalışma, Hadis-i Şeriflerin Arap dilindeki "ism-i âlet" (alet ismi) kategorisi üzerindeki köklü etkisini incelemekte ve hadislerin Cahiliye döneminde hiç kullanılmayan yeni kelime kalıpları türettiğini kanıtlamaktadır. Araştırma kapsamında, hadislerin bizzat literatüre kazandırdığı veya kullanımını ihyâ ederek yaygınlaştırdığı on sekiz farklı alet ismi tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmanın temel soruları şunlardır: Hadis-i Şerifler ism-i âlet yapısını nasıl etkilemiştir?
