Abstract

The work titled "Gagauz Orthography" details the historical development of the Gagauz literary language, which began in the late 19th century with the collections of V. A. Moşkov, and the Cyrillic-based writing system, which gained official status in 1957 during the Moldavian SSR period. Based on the central dialects of Komrat and Çadır-Lunga, this system was built upon phonetic, morphological, and etymological principles, incorporating special characters to represent sounds unique to the Gagauz language. It also standardized the spelling of loanwords that entered the language through Russian and Turkish (including loanwords of Arabic and Persian origin). While the text notes that the current rules generally reflect the language's phonetic structure successfully, it provides a scientific evaluation by highlighting deficiencies, particularly regarding the representation of primary long vowels and certain consonants.

Özet

"Gagauzcanın Yazım Kuralları" başlıklı çalışma, Gagauz yazı dilinin 19. yüzyıl sonunda V. A. Moşkov’un derlemeleriyle başlayan tarihsel gelişimini ve 1957 yılında Moldova SSC döneminde resmiyet kazanan Kiril alfabesi temelli yazım sistemini detaylandırmaktadır. Komrat ve Çadır-Lunga merkez lehçeleri esas alınarak oluşturulan bu sistem; Gagauz diline özgü sesleri karşılamak için eklenen özel harflerle fonetik, morfolojik ve etimolojik prensipler üzerine inşa edilmiş, Rusça ve Türkçe aracılığıyla giren Arapça-Farsça alıntıların yazım kurallarını standartlaştırmıştır. Metin, mevcut kuralların dilin ses yapısını genel olarak başarıyla yansıttığını belirtmekle birlikte özellikle birincil uzun ünlüler ve bazı ünsüzlerin gösterimi konusundaki eksikliklere dikkat çekerek bilimsel bir değerlendirme sunmaktadır.
