Abstract

The aim of this study is to compare the acute effects of dynamic and ballistic stretching protocols on vertical jump performance in women. 17 healthy female sports science students volunteered for the study, determined using G*Power analysis. The study was conducted using a randomized controlled cross-over experimental design. Participants visited the laboratory four times at 24-hour intervals and completed either a dynamic stretching (DS), ballistic stretching (BS), or control (C) condition after a 5-minute general warm-up at each session. Following the protocols, the countermovement jump (CMJ) test was measured using the My Jump 2 application. Repeated measures ANOVA, post-hoc Holm-corrected paired t-tests, effect size (Cohen's d), and measurement reliability (ICC) were used in the statistical analyses. Participants' CMJ values were found to be 25.16 ± 5.29 cm in the ballistic condition, 24.85 ± 5.49 cm in the dynamic condition, and 24.12 ± 4.91 cm in the control condition. The one-way repeated measures ANOVA test showed a significant difference between protocols (p 0.05). The reliability of the measurements was found to be high (ICC = 0.94). Dynamic and ballistic stretching conditions resulted in slightly higher mean CMJ values than the general warm-up-only control condition; however, since post-hoc pairwise comparisons were not statistically significant, these findings should be interpreted as a small upward trend rather than a confirmed performance-enhancing effect. This study makes a limited but important contribution to the literature on the acute effects of dynamic and ballistic stretching protocols in women. Further studies with larger samples and longer durations are recommended to better understand the effects of different warm-up protocols.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, kadınlarda dinamik ve balistik germe protokollerinin dikey sıçrama performansı üzerindeki akut etkilerini karşılaştırmaktır. Araştırmaya G*Power analiziyle belirlenen 17 sağlıklı kadın spor bilimleri öğrencisi gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Çalışma randomize kontrollü çapraz bir deneysel tasarımda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Katılımcılar 24 saat aralıklarla laboratuvara dört kez gelerek her oturumda 5 dakikalık genel ısınmanın ardından dinamik germe (DG), balistik germe (BG) veya kontrol (K) koşulunu tamamlamışlardır. Protokollerin ardından countermovement jump (CMJ) testi My Jump 2 uygulaması ile ölçülmüştür.
