Abstract

The social interaction structures that emerged with the developments experienced at global and local levels after the 2000s were carried to a different context than before with the advances in information technologies, and it has become inevitable for social institutions, especially the family, to be affected by this rapid change. At this point, the family and youth, which are in a sense one of the main subjects of increasing concerns about the future and the carrier of change, and which attract the attention of every segment in the society, need to be understood more with comparative analyses on specific issues beyond observation data. This study particularly focuses on the practical and ideal aspects of family structure, family attitudes and values in the process of raising children. Two independent quantitative studies were conducted on university youth and their families; in the study, the attitudes and values of young people and families were described and analyzed with their concrete and abstract similar and different aspects. The most striking findings reached in the Konya-based study were; in changing family attitudes, in addition to the fact that families attach more importance to collectivist-altruistic values in the upbringing processes within the family, and young people in the university category attach more importance to individualist-altruistic values, the ability of the value of religiosity to be transferred between generations in the family and youth relationship as a family value is gradually decreasing.
