Abstract
The purpose of this research is to examine and compare the earthquake-themed content in TÜBİTAK publications, Science and Technology and Science for Kids, determining the frequency of publication, thematic distribution, and the proportion dedicated to earthquake education. The study employed a document review method, and the identified articles were evaluated using content and thematic analysis techniques. The findings show that the vast majority of earthquake content is in the publication Science and Technology, while such content is quite limited in Science for Kids. In both publications, the content density significantly increased following major earthquakes, but continuity was not maintained through a sustainable publishing policy. Science and Technology covered the earthquake phenomenon across a wide spectrum, from geological mechanisms and engineering solutions to societal impacts. In Science for Kids, thematic diversity was limited, with content primarily focused on awareness and emotional support. The research reveals that popular science publications are an important tool for creating disaster awareness across the community, and that disaster education should be supported by a continuous publishing approach starting from an early age.
