Abstract

It is important for students to develop a positive attitude towards science classes, which help them understand themselves and the world. Nowadays, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, which is being integrated into every field, is becoming increasingly widespread. The correct use of this widespread technology, integrating it into curricula, plans, and activities, can enhance students' attitudes towards science classes. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of the topic of simple machines, taught with the support of AI, on students' attitudes towards science. A weak experimental design, one of the quantitative research methods, was employed in this study. The sample of the study consists of 21 eighth-grade students selected through a convenience sampling method. Data were collected using the Attitude Towards Science Scale developed by Özcan and Koca (2020). The study adhered to validity, reliability, and ethical principles throughout the process. The findings of the study indicated that there was a statistically significant difference in the means of the attitude towards science scale and its sub-dimensions (enjoyment, confidence, utility, interest) in favor of the post-tests. As a result of the study, it was determined that the AI-supported application positively improved students' attitudes towards science. Based on the results, recommended to use AI in teaching different topics within science education.
