Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the effects of digital fatigue and organizational loneliness perceptions on employee performance and to determine the mediating role of knowledge sharing in these effects. The research was conducted with data obtained from employees of technology-intensive companies in Düzce. The validity and reliability of the scales used in the study were evaluated according to the Fornell and Larcker criteria and were found to be reliable. The findings reveal that digital fatigue and organizational loneliness have significant negative effects on employee performance, while knowledge sharing plays a mitigating role in alleviating these adverse impacts. Knowledge sharing emerges as a critical factor that reduces perceptions of digital fatigue and loneliness among employees, thereby enhancing collaboration and improving performance. Additionally, the mediating effect of knowledge sharing in the relationship between digital fatigue, organizational loneliness, and employee performance was found to be significant. These results suggest that organizations should develop strategies that encourage knowledge sharing to enhance employee well-being and improve performance. The study provides recommendations to guide organizations and managers to cope with the challenges caused by digitalization.
