Abstract
The effect of inflation on fixed capital formation and economic growth is one of the important areas of discussion in economics literature. In the neoclassical approach, it is argued that inflation has a negative effect on these two variables. However, Mundell and Tobin stated that inflation will affect the portfolio preferences of individuals and therefore this relationship can be positive. In this study, the effect of inflation on capital accumulation and economic growth is analyzed with the AMG method using a panel data set covering the period 1995-2023 for OECD countries. The general result obtained from the study is that the effects of increases in consumer prices on real fixed capital formation and real GDP vary by country.
