Abstract

While working brings many positive contributions to the individual in economic, social, and psychological terms, it can also lead to burnout by creating emotional and physical fatigue and stress. Burnout is a psychological syndrome that occurs as a long-term response to chronic interpersonal stress factors in working life. Increasing empirical evidence in recent years shows that social workers have higher burnout levels due to both client groups and work areas. Although studies on the burnout of social workers have increased relatively in the international literature, it has been evaluated that there are still limited number of studies in Turkey. In this context, the aim of the study is to evaluate the research in Turkey to determine the factors affecting the burnout of social workers by classifying them according to the years, measurement tools and sample groups. The systematic review method was used in the study. In this context, national databases were scanned and nine studies in accordance with the determined criteria were included in the study. As a result of the study, it was understood that social workers have moderate level of burnout; gender, marital status and income variables affect burnout levels. As a result of the study, it was understood that social workers have a moderate level of burnout and that some of the sociodemographic variables such as gender, marital status and income may affect burnout levels. As a result, it was evaluated that the effect of socio-demographic variables on burnout was limited, and variables arising from work and working life may have a greater effect.
