Abstract

The aim of the research; To examine the relationships between school burnout, social media addictions and loneliness perceptions of university students in Turkey. While the dependent variable of the study is the perception of loneliness, the independent variables are school burnout and social media addiction. For the realization of the aims of the study; Attitudes of university students were measured by demographic information form, UCLA loneliness scale, Bergen social media addiction scale and Maslach burnout inventory-student form. The universe of this study consists of students studying at universities. In the study, data were collected randomly by easy sampling method. Participants consisted of a total of 351 individuals, 151 (43%) women and 200 (57%) men. Data were analyzed with Pearson product moment correlation, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. After the analyses, positive and significant correlations were observed between all the variables. In addition, it was concluded that social media addiction mediated between school burnout and loneliness. The results are discussed in the light of the relevant literature.
