Abstract
In this study, the presenceof the people of Turkey origin over a half century, who have migrated from Turkey to Europe, particularly to Germany since 1960s is assessed. The hidden reality in the frequently stressedwords “Wehad wanted workers but people came ”to express the great social change that developed beyond the early expectations has now become quite different. Within this framework, their departures, priorities of the period, existing numeric features are primarilyaddressed. In the study, it is specifically discussed whether the presence of over 6.5 million people of Turkey origin, the 5 million of whom are still in Europe, points to a ‘diasporization’ or not. In the second section of the study, the data onpublic opinion titled ‘Euro-Turks Barometer’ carried out by Hacettepe University, Migration and Politics Research Center (HUGO) in 11 European countries where people of Turkey origin densely live is discussed. Özet
Bu çalışmada 1960’lı yıllardan itibaren Türkiye’den başta Almanya olmak üzere Avrupa’ya giden Türkiye kökenlilerin yarım yüzyılı aşan varlığının bir değerlendirmesi yapılmaktadır. Başlangıçtaki beklentilerin ötesinde gelişen büyük sosyal değişimin ifadesi için sıklıkla vurgulanan “işçi istemiştik, insanlar geldi ” sözünde saklı gerçeklik, artık bambaşka bir duruma ulaşmıştır. Bu çerçevede öncelikle gidiş süreçleri, dönemin öncelikleri, mevcut sayısal özellikler ele alınmıştır. Çalışmada, halen 5 milyonu Avrupa’da olmak üzere 6,5 milyonu aşkın Türkiye kökenlinin varlığının bir ‘diasporalaşmaya’ işaret edip etmediği özel olarak tartışılmaktadır. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde ise Hacettepe Üniversitesi Göç ve Siyaset Araştırmaları Merkezi(HUGO) tarafından Türkiye kökenlilerin yoğun olarak yaşadığı 11 Avrupa ülkesinde gerçekleşen ‘Euro-Turks-Barometre (ETB)’ başlıklı kamuoyu araştırmasının verileri değerlendirilmektedir. Çalışmanın önemli tezlerinden birisi, yaşanan sürecin ‘karşılıklı zihniyet transferleri’nin gerçekleştiği güçlü bir etkileşime yol açtığı ve yeni bir kimlik alanının oluştuğuna yöneliktir
