Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate the effect of using flipped classroom applications in geometry teaching on the attitudes of prospective mathematics teachers towards geometry. Qualitative and quantitative research methods were used in the research. A quantitative research method, a pretestposttest control group, quasi-experimental design, and a qualitative research method, a case study was adopted. The quantitative sample of the research is 79 students who are studying in Bayburt University Faculty of Education Primary Education Mathematics Teaching Undergraduate Program in the 2018- 2019 Academic Year Fall Semester; The qualitative sample was made up of 13 students with random sampling from the experimental group. Opinions about geometry and applied method were taken from the students. The descriptive was used for the data analysis. The geometry attitude scale developed by Bindak (2004) was used as a quantitative data collection tool. The analysis of the data was done with SPSS 21.0 package program. The quantitative results of the current study showed that the attitude scores of the students in the flipped classroom make a significant difference in favour of the post-test. The qualitative results pointed out that students think flipped classroom is important for teaching.
