Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between primary school teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs toward science teaching and their curriculum literacy. A correlational survey model and a quantitative research design were employed. The participants consisted of 449 primary school teachers working in the Orhangazi and Gemlik districts of Bursa Province in 2024. The study's sample was selected using simple random sampling. The results indicated that the gender, professional seniority, and class size variables did not produce a statistically significant difference on either scale. However, a moderate positive correlation was found between science teaching self-efficacy and curriculum literacy. The study recommends that future studies employ qualitative data collection methods, such as interviews and observations, to evaluate teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs and curriculum literacy more objectively. Furthermore, expanding the research to include samples from different geographical regions and demographic groups may enhance the generalizability of the results. Observation and interview techniques could also be used to gain a deeper understanding of teachers’ curriculum literacy and self-efficacy beliefs. Finally, developing models that incorporate variables such as learning styles, personal characteristics, and school culture could allow for more comprehensive analyses.
