Abstract
Background: Midwifery profession, lock in their efforts to improve public health and has an increasingly important role. The choice of the profession of midwifery and midwives profession’s perspectives in this context offered services may have a router impact. Made the conscious choice of profession is great importance both as individuals and countries for the future. Objective: The purpose of the research was to determine views on the profession of midwifery 1st and 4th class undergraduate students. Method: This descriptive type study was conducted Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Health Science Midwifery Department in the 2010-2011 academic year. The universe of research, 57 first class students and 37 fourth class students studying in department which including 94 students. In the study no sample selection, outside one student who did not agree to participate in research that the 93 students were interviewed. The research data, face-to-face interviews were collected using with a questionnaire. Evaluation of the data have used SPSS for Windows 14.0 statistical package program was carried out frequency. Results: The average age of the students is 20±0.7, 95.7% of the students are single, and 62.4% live in the city center. Mothers of the students 57% graduate primary school , and 90.3% were found to be housewives. Students prefer midwifery department 43% of 11 row and row of the up at the university entrance exam and 42% were chosen midwifery department because it is easy to find job. Students are 60.2% negative thoughts about the profession of midwifery that before coming to school, 96.8% determined that after the school change in a positive way in their thoughts. The students of 69.1% that negative image in society as they assessed the midwifery profession. The students of 78.5% that would like to work after graduate as a midwife. 76.3% of the students have thought optimistic about the future of the profession of midwifery. Genel Bilgi: Uluslararası Ebeler Federasyonu, 1972 yılında ebelik mesleğini şu şeklide tanımlamıştır; Düzenli olarak verilen eğitim programlarına katılmış, gerekli ebelik niteliklerine sahip olmuş, yasal olarak ebelik sanatını yürütmesi kabul edilmiş; doğum ve doğum sonrası dönemlerde kadınlara bakım veren, doğumları yaptırabilen, bebek ve çocuk bakımını sağlayan kişinin yaptığı sanattır. Amaç: Ebelik eğitiminin amacı; mesleki bilgilerinin yanında; sorumluluk duygusu gelişmiş, bakım verebilen, otonomi sahibi, iyi iletişim kuran, dürüst, gerektiği zaman ilgili mercilerden izin ve onay alabilen, bireylerle ilgilenmekte istekli, ekip çalışmasına önem veren profesyonel ebeler yetiştirmektir. Verileri değerlendirirken tanımlayıcı istatistiksel metodlardan ortalama, standart sapma, yüzde kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 20±0,7 dir. Öğrencilerin %95.7'si bekar ve %62.4'ü il merkezinde yaşamaktadır. Öğrencilerin annelerinin %57.0'sinin ilkokul mezunu ve %90.3'ünün ev hanımı olduğu bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin %43.0'ünün üniversite giriş sınavında ebelik bölümünü 11 ve üzeri sırada tercih ettiği ve %42.0'sinin ebelik bölümünü iş imkanı kolay olması sebebiyle seçtikleri belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin %60.2'si okula gelmeden önce ebelik mesleği hakkında olumsuz düşüncelerinin olduğu, % 96.8'i okula geldikten sonra düşüncelerinde olumlu yönde değişim olduğu belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin %69.1'i ebelik mesleğinin toplumdaki imajını olumsuz olarak değerlendirmiştir. Öğrencilerin %78.5'i mezun olduktan sonra ebe olarak çalışmak istemektedir. Öğrencilerin %76.3'ünün ebelik mesleğinin geleceğine dair iyimser düşündükleri bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Ebelik öğrencilerinin mesleğin geleceğine iyimser bakması ebelik mesleği için umut verici, güzel bir gelişmedir.
