Abstract

The aim of this study is to contribute to the development of physics teachers' content knowledge about particle physics. In this context, a 17 short-answer open-ended achievement test for Particle Physics was prepared, taking into account the 10 acquisitions in the 12th grade Introduction to Atomic Physics and Radioactivity unit of secondary education. The achievement test was applied to 23 physics teachers as a pre-test before the online activities for the achievements and as a post-test after the activities to determine the change in their knowledge about the subjects. As a result of the pre-test, it was determined that teachers are lack of knowledge on the traces seen as a result of the Stern-Gerlach experiment, the estimation of the particle groups given the charge and spin properties, and the fundamental subatomic particles in the nucleus. In the post-test implemented after the activities, positive changes were obtained about the prediction of the particle groups given the charge and spin properties and the gains other than the fundamental subatomic particles in the nucleus.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı fizik öğretmenlerinin parçacık fiziğine yönelik alan bilgilerinin geliştirilmesine katkı sağlayabilmektir. Bu bağlamda ortaöğretim 12. sınıf Atom Fiziğine Giriş ve Radyoaktivite ünitesinde yer alan 10 adet kazanım göz önüne alınarak, parçacık fiziğine yönelik 17 adet kısa cevaplı açık uçlu bir başarı testi hazırlanmıştır. Başarı testi 23 fizik öğretmenine kazanımlara yönelik çevrim içi etkinlikler yapılmadan önce öntest, etkinliklerden sonra da sontest olarak uygulanarak konularla ilgili bilgilerindeki değişim tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Öntestte Stern-Gerlach deneyinin sonucunda görülen izler, yük ve spin özellikleri verilen parçacık gruplarının tahmini ve çekirdek içerisindeki temel atomaltı parçacıklar hakkında öğrtmenlerin bilgilerinin olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Uygulama sonrasında yapılan sontestte ise yük ve spin özellikleri verilen parçacık gruplarının tahmini ve çekirdek içerisindeki temel atomaltı parçacıklar dışındaki diğer kazanımlar hakkında olumlu bir değişim elde edilmiştir.
