Abstract
The concept of management is one of the most important areas that correspond to the last century. In fact, the management function may be the most common and important one of the other functions of business management. As in every field, there are different approaches and practices in the field of management. In particular, the concept of Corporate Governance, which has increased its influence in the last 25 years, is one of them. The examination of corporate governance practices through publicly traded companies can also be evaluated through the Corporate Governance Index within Borsa Istanbul. Borsa İstanbul Corporate Governance Index aims to measure the price and return performances of companies traded on Borsa İstanbul Markets (except companies in WatchList and Lists C and D) with a corporate governance rating of minimum 7 over 10 as a whole and minimum of 6.5 for each main section. In this article, the effects of corporate governance practices in the financial performance of the firms in the corporate governance index will be investigated through quantitative modeling.

Yönetim kavramı işletmeler üzerinde son yüzyılda karşılık bulan en önemli alanlardan bir tanesidir. Yönetim fonksiyonu aslında işletmenin diğer fonksiyonları arasında en genel olanı olarak da belirtilebilir. Her alanda olduğu gibi yönetim alanında da farklı yaklaşımlar ve uygulamalar bulunmaktadır. Özellikle son 25 yıldır etkisini artıran Kurumsal Yönetim kavramı bunlardan bir tanesidir. Kurumsal yönetim uygulamalarının halka açık şirketler üzerinden incelenmesi de Borsa İstanbul bünyesindeki Kurumsal Yönetim Endeksi üzerinden değerlendirilebilmektedir. BIST Kurumsal Yönetim Endeksi, payları Borsa İstanbul pazarlarında işlem gören ve kurumsal yönetim ilkelerine uyum notu 10 üzerinden en az 7, her bir ana başlık itibarıyla 10 üzerinden en az 6,5 olan şirketlerin fiyat ve getiri performansının ölçülmesi amacıyla oluşturulmuştur. İşte bu makalede tanımdan da anlaşılacağı üzere belirli kurumsal yönetim ilkelerine uygunluk sağlayan şirketlerin oluşturduğu bu endekste yer alan firmaların finansal performanslarında kurumsal yönetim uygulamalarının etkileri yapılacak olan kantitatif modelleme ile araştırılacaktır.
