Abstract

Climate change is one of the major dangers facing the world today. Measures should be taken at international, national and local levels to prevent climate change. Cities that make up 80% of greenhouse gas emissions and 70% of the global population have a key point in preventing climate change. For this reason, in the fight against climate change, it is very important to contribute to this struggle at the local level as well as international and national efforts. Thanks to the climate action plans to be implemented by local governments, the steps to be taken to stop this change quickly and at the same time to adapt to the results of the change will prepare the ground for the creation of a roadmap for the future. In this respect, the plans prepared under the direction of the greenhouse gas reduction target set for release will only support the reduction of the carbon footprint will not allow Turkey's efforts locally. In the study, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality's fight against climate change until 2030 was tried to be examined within the framework of the "Capacity Building in the Field of Climate Change in Turkey Grant Program" supported by the Republic of Turkey and the European Union, where the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change is the beneficiary. In line with the review, it has been seen that important plans-targets have been put forward at the point of reaching a city that is resistant to climate change and low-carbon. As a result, it has emerged that it will also contribute to the formation of regional and national policies and to guide other local projects.
