Abstract

Purpose: To evaluate the graft clarity in triple procedure (PKP+ECCE+IOL) and in cataract surgery performed after PKP. Method: In 103 eyes cataract surgery was performed in the same session (triple procedure) with PKP (group I); and 30 eyes underwent cataract surgery after a mean period of 15.1 months (3-62 months) following initial PKP (group II). Mean follow-up period was 17.1 months for group I and 25.3 monts for group II. Results: Allograft reaction was encountered in 14 eyes (13.6%) in group I and in 7 eyes (23.4%) in group II. An increased intraocular pressure observed in 21 eyes (20.4%) in group I, and 5 eyes (16.7%) in group II. Eighteen grafts (17.5%) from group I lost its clarity at the last follow-up visit, whereas this rate was 20% (6 eyes) in group II. Best corrected visual acuity increased one or more lines in 67 eyes (65.1%) in group I, and in 20 eyes (70%) in group II.Conclusion: To perform cataract surgery at the same session or after PKP did not reveal significant difference in aspect of complications, graft clarity and visual acuity.

Grup I'deki gözler ortalama 17.1 ay, grup H'deki gözler ortalama 25.3ay takip edildi.
