Abstract

Purpose: One of the important problems encountered in the confirmation of the results in photometric tests is the detection of samples exceeding linearity. In situations where linearity is exceeded, especially enzyme levels may give different results than the true value. If this can not be detected during the approval phase, serious problems can arise in the diagnosis and treatment of the patients. A number of flags are defined for situations where the results exceed the linearity values. In the presence of these flags, it is recommended that samples be sent to dilution. In this study, it is aimed to examine the flags defined for the Roche Moduler P autoanalyzer. Materials and Methods: Our hospital Biochemistry Laboratory samples which were diluted between February and October 2013 was included study. If there are flags, it is recorded. If the difference between the values before and after dilution exceeds the CLIA 88 limits, for example, the linearity value is assumed to be exceeded. Results: A total of 479 parameters were diluted and there were flags in 428 parameters. No flags were detected in 51 parameters. Significant differences after the dilution procedure have been observed in 197 samples. It was observed that 9,1 % of the samples exceeding the linearity had no flag. Conclusion: The study concluded that each sample giving a warning sign should be sent to the dilution, but the clinical fit should be assessed absolutely even in the test without the flag.
