Abstract

Aim: We aimed to investigate the effects of oral carbohydrate solution (CS) on patient anxiety and comfort which was used for reducing the fasting time in laparoscopic cholecystectomies.Materials and Methods: Forty patients scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy were divided into two groups. (STAI) test which demonstrates state - trait anxiety was applied to the patients at the night before the operation (T1). Group P consumed 800 mL of CS orally at the night before the operation and 400 mL of CS orally 2 hours before operation. Control group (Group C) drunk nothing. STAI test was repeated before the operation (T2). The feelings of hunger, thirst, nausea, cold, tiredness were questioned. The body temperature and blood glucose levels of the patients were measured pre-, intra-and postoperatively. Standard anaesthesia induction and maintenance were applied to the patients without premedication. Postoperative analgesia was provided with tramadol. Postoperative visual analogue scale (VAS) scores, tramadol consumption rates and the frequency of nausea and vomiting were evaluated. Results: When T1 and T2 values of the state-anxiety part of STAI test were compared, a decrease in Group P and an increase in Group C were observed (p

Özet

Amaç: Laparoskopik kolesistektomilerde açlık süresini azaltmak için kullanılan oral karbonhidrat solüsyonunun (KS) hasta anksiyetesi ve konforu üzerine etkilerinin araştırılması amaçlandı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Laparoskopik kolesistektomi planlanan 40 hasta iki gruba ayrıldı. Operasyondan önceki gece (T1) hastalara durumluk ve sürekli anksiyetesini gösteren state trait anxiety inventory (STAI) testi uygulandı.
