Abstract

The Kabuki syndrome, or Niikawa-Kuroki syndrome, is a clinically recognizable congenital syndrome of unknown etiology. The birth prevalence was calculated at 1 in 86,000. Approximately more than 350 cases have been reported from all over the world. Clinical findings include early hypotonia, joint laxity, developmental delay, facial dysmorphism, cleft palate, hypodontia, lip nodules, heart defects, and a variety of other structural defects. There are increasing number of reports of patients with combined hearing impairment, inner ear deformities or sensorineural hearing impairment. In addition, the patients often suffer from therapy-resistant chronic otitis media. We report a 6-year-old boy with overlapping manifestations of the Kabuki syndrome having bilateral secretory otitis media.
