Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of manganese chloride (MnCl2) on liver and kidney arginase activities in rats given a high dose of gentamicin. Thirty six Wistar Albino rats were divided into 6 groups as follows: Group 1 was control group; Group 2: received gentamicin alone (gentamicin sulphate 100 mg/kg i.p.); Group 3 and 4: received MnCl2 alone (2 mg/kg i.p. and 20 mg/kg i.p.); Group 5: received gentamicin (100 mg/kg i.p.) and MnCl2 (2 mg/kg i.p.), Group 6: received gentamicin (100 mg/kg i.p.) and MnCl2 (20 mg/kg i.p.). Injections were repeated daily for 6 days. Twenty four hours after the last injections samples were kidney and liver collected in rats and arginase activities were spectrophotometrically detected. Özet

Bu çalışma, yüksek dozda gentamisin verilen ratlarda manganez klorür (MnCl2)'ün karaciğer ve böbrek arginazı üzerine etkilerini araştırmak amacıyla yapıldı. Erişkin 36 adet Wistar Albino rat 6 eşit gruba ayrıldı. Birinci grup kontrol, ikinci gruba tek başına gentamisin (gentamisin sülfat 100 mg/kg, i.p.), üçüncü ve dördüncü gruplara tek başına MnCl2 (sırasıyla, 2 ve 20 mg/kg, i.p.), beşinci ve altıncı gruplara ise gentamisin ile birlikte MnCl2'in iki farklı dozu 6 gün süreyle verildi. Son enjeksiyondan 24 saat sonra ratlardan alınan karaciğer ve böbrek örneklerinde arginaz aktiviteleri spektrofotometrik yöntemle belirlendi. Karaciğer ve böbrek dokusu arginaz aktiviteleri kontrol grubuyla karşılaştınidığında gentamisin verilen gruplai'da arttığı görüldü. MnCl2'in düşük dozu karaciğerde arginaz aktivitesini kontrole göre artırırken (p0.05). Buna karşılık böbrekte MnCl2'in hem düşük, hem de yüksek dozunun arginaz aktivitesini artırdığı belirlendi (p
