Our results showed that the patients with three or more-vessel disease had higher albumin excretion rate than the patients with two or less-vessel disease on the third day (urinary albumin excretion rate 12.8 (3.6-244)mg/day vs 30.4 (3.5- 626)mg/day, p=0.04).

Abstract

Objective: Microalbuminuria, a subclinical rise in the uri- nary albumin excretion, is a indicator of cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. Today, microalbuminuria is an early response following acute myocardial infarction. The aim of this study was to assess the association between uri- nary excretion of albumin in patients with acute coronary syndrom and coronary angiographic findings of coronary atherosclerosis. Study design: Cross-section study Summary of background data: Ninety-six patients with acute myocardial infarction and unstable angina pectoris were studied. Coronary angiograhpy were performed all patients. All patients were divided into four groups accord- ing to the number of involved coronary arteries. Albumin excretion rate was measured on the first and third days after admission to hospital. Results: There was no difference first day microalbumin- uria value between in all patients groups. Conclusion: It seems that there was a relation between extend of coronary artery lesions, ischemia induce endothe- lial injury and microalbuminuria.
