Abstract

In this study; acute appendicitis cases of last five years in Gaziantep University Medical Faculty Department of Surgery were evaluated with personal cases belonging to different periods, retrospectively. It was aimed to search the importance of radiologic and laboratory tests with history, physical examination in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis. 482 cases were evaluated. The 93,78 % of the cases told to feel pain at lower right region in the physical examination. Complete blood count, urinary stick test, supine direct graphy and abd-pel USG were evaluated especially. As an operative finding, 89,01 % of cases was found to be acute appendicitis and 3,94 % cases had extra pathologies. In 7,05 % of cases appendix was found to be normal. At the end of the study; it was convinced that the incidence of negative laparotomy can be decreased by history and medical examination supported with more advanced diagnostic tests.
