Abstract

In recent years, in many parts of the world after accounting scandals in many businesses, business and accounting practices and intense criticisms of professional ethics, especially by accountants and auditors, have led to weaker public confidence in accounting and auditing. For this reason/Because of this reason, ethical regulations have been made in order to comply with accounting professionals in the world and in Turkey. After giving information about ethical principles consisting of/related with/associated with integrity, objectivity, professional competence and due care, confidentiality, and professional behavior in the accounting profession, the data from 155 members who returned from the questionnaire (about accounting ethics) sent to all professions in Malatya province were analyzed. The aim of the study is to measure the attitudes of ethical professionals according to the titles of accounting professionals and their attitudes towards the general ethical perception. However, since factor analysis of the scales used in accounting ethics in Turkey have not been applied, and although the reliability analysis should be applied for validity and accounting ethical principles separately, it was applied for both together, which caused to the problems associated with their reliabilities. For these reasons, The hypothesis defined as“there is a difference between the ethical principles and attitudes related to the general ethical perception according to the titles of the accounting profession members” cannot been tested. Accordingly, it was concluded that there is a need to develop a new (valid and reliable scale/ scale including validity and reliability conditions in a satisfactory level) associated with professional ethic attitudes of professional accountants in Turkey.
