Bu makalede, ekolojik kriz ve tarım ilişkisi ele alınmaktadır. Kapitalist tarımsal üretim biçimi, yaşanan ekolojik krizin önemli nedenlerinden biridir. Çalışmada, tarımsal üretimin kapitalist biçiminin, ekolojik krize etkisinin ne olduğu ve nasıl gerçekleştiği ile bu üretim biçiminin sürdürülemez yapısı ortaya konmaktadır. Aynı zamanda ortodoks iktisadın, tarımsal üretim, doğal kaynak kullanımı ve ekolojik kriz olgularına karşı çelişkili yaklaşımına değinilmekte ve alternatif bir üretim modeli olarak Küba’da yapılan tarımsal üretimden söz edilmektedir. Küba, ekolojik krize karşı, doğal kaynakların korunması ve sürdürülebilirliğinde tutarlı politikalar uygulamaktadır. Kent tarımı şeklinde uyguladığı tarımsal üretim yapısı ile Küba, Kapitalist üretimin dünyanın geri kalanında derinleştirmiş olduğu kır-kent ayrımını ortadan kaldırarak, düşük kimyasal ve düşük fosil yakıt kullanımıyla hem gıda sorununa önemli bir çözüm üretmekte ve hem de ekolojik krize karşı çok önemli bir alternatif tarımsal üretim örneği sergilemektedir.
