Abstract

Aim: Coronary artery anomalies (CAA) are observered in less than 1% of angiography series. CAA can be noticed by clinicians because these anomalies can cause sudden death. Because of the inceases in the number of coronary angiographies for the last 2-3 decades, CAA are much more seen and the definition, morphogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnostic work-up, prognosis and treatment of these anomalies are re-evaulated. Material and Method: In this study, we retrospectively surveyed 2398 coronary angiographic results from the archives that established between 2003 march and 2008 february. The results that showed a CAA or a probable CAA were selected and the angiographic digital films of these selected patients are watched and the diagnoses are corrected. These anomalies are classified to the scheme that depends on the Angelini and Khatami’s classification. Results: In our study group, 55 patients having 59 CAA. These anomalies were primary absence of LMCA (left main coronary artery) at 14 patients. Cx (circumflex coronary artery) originating from right coronary sinus (CS) of valsalva was seen at 5 patients. RCA (right coronary artery) originated from left CS at 2 patients. The origination of LMCA from right CS one patient and RCA was bifid at 18 patients. The origination of LAD from right CS were seen at two patients. Conclusion: The most commonly observed CAA in our patients was bifid RCAs. The incidence of CAA in our study was 2.3 percent. This percentage was greater than the major studies in this group (as the same studies from Turkey) in literature.

2 hastada Right Coronary Arter (RCA) sol koroner sinüsten çıkmaktaydı. LMCA’nın sağ sinüs valsalvadan köken aldığı 1 hastada, sol ön inen koroner arterin (LAD) ise sağ koroner sinüsten çıktığı 2 hastada gözlendi. RCA’nın bifit olduğu ise 18 hastada görüldü. Sonuç: Çalışmamızda en sık görülen anomali bifit RCA’dır. Çalışmamızda koroner arter anomali insidansı %2,3 idi. Bu oran literatürdeki sonuçlardan daha büyüktür.
