Abstract

Aim: Endothelium-mediated metabolic autoregulation plays an important role in coronary blood flow regulation, especially in small arteries and arterioles and main agents of this regulation are nitric oxide (NO) and endothelin. The aim of this study was to evaluate correlation between NO levels and echocardiographic systolic-diastolic functions in patients with slow coronary flow (SCF) and normally coronary flow . Material and Method: Fifteen patients aged 30-65 with SCF according to TIMI frame count and fifteen subjects with normal coronary arteries (control group) were included in the study. The NO levels were measured, left ventricular systolic and diastolic function were evaluated by conventional and tissue Doppler echocardiography in all patients. Result: Plasma NO levels were 28.24±19.12 μmol/L in patients with SCF and were 32.44 ± 25.13 μmol/L in subjects with normal coronary arteries. Although there were no significant differences plasma NO levels were lower in patients with SCF. Also in patients with SCF left systolic and diastolic function significantly impaired compared to the control group. Conclusion: Lower plasma NO levels and impaired diastolic and systolic functions in patients with SCF compared with control group may indicate a role of endothelial dysfunction in SCF pathogenesis.

Bulgular: Yavaş koroner akım saptanan hastalarda kan NO düzeyi 28,24±19,12 ve NKA bireylerinin kan NO düzeyi 32,44±25,13 (μmol/L) saptanmıştır.
