Abstract

Aim: To investigate the effect on mandibular third molar surgery to mucosai perfusion of near and far areas from the insicion in the preoperative and postoperative periods. Subjects and Methods: Impacted third molar surgery was performed to II patients whose tooth were in vertical position using horizontal insicion. In preoperative and on 7th day postoperatively periods, the perfusion of mucosa was measured near and far areas from the incision by Laser Doppler Flowmetry (LDF) device. Results: It is obtained that Postoperative perfusion values increased in comparison with preoperative measures both near and far areas from the insicion. However, there is no significiant difference in mucosai perfusion values between near and far areas from the insicion. Conclusion: It is conclued that the well-planned and optimal mucosai insicion does not extremely increase mucosai inflammation consequently, microvascular structure.
