Abstract

Aim: In this study, we aimed to determine the serum and oral tissue (alveolar bone, gingiva, dental follicle) concentrations of spiramycin which is used in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery procedures. Material and Methods: For this study 38 female, 28 male totaly 66 patients who applied to our clinic and had impacted lower third molar teeth and mean age of 24.6, mean weight of 61.5 kg was selected. Single dose l g spiramycin (Rovamycine 3 MtU tbl., Eczacıbaşı-Rhone Poulenc Istanbul) was given to each patient preoperatively. Following spiramycin administration in 1,3,6 and 13th hours, serum and oral tissue samples were obtained and antibiotic concentration in samples were determined by agar well method. MIC values of spiramycin against the microorganisms in odontogenic infections and serum and oral tissue concentration were compared. Results and Conclusion: As a result, apart from 1, 6,13th hour gingiva and 13th hour dental follicle samples, the concentrations of spiramycin was found to be effective against the mostly seen microorganisms in odontogenic infections. 1, 6, 13th hour gingiva and 13th hour dental follicle samples of spiramycin concentration was very close to the MIC values of the microorganism mostly seen in odontogenic infections.

Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışmada Oral Maksillofasiyal Cerrahi alanında kullanılan antibiyotiklerden olan spiramisinin serum ve oral doku (dişeti, alveolar kemik, dental follikül) konsantrasyonlarının belirlenmesi amaçlandı. Materyal ve Metod: Çalışmaya kliniğimize başvuran gömülü alt 20 yaş dişleri bulunan, yaş ortalaması 24.6, ortalama ağırlıkları 61.5 kg olan 38 bayan, 28 erkek, toplam 66 hasta dahil edildi. Operasyondan önce her hastaya tek oral doz 1 gr spiramisin (Rovamycine 3 MIU tbl., Eczacıbaşı-Rhone Poulenc İstanbul) verildi.
