Abstract

Fibrous dysplasia is a congenital condition in which normal medullary bone is gradually replaced by an abnormal fibrous connective tissue proliferation. In our report, a case of recurrent mandibular fibrous displasia is presented. 39 year old women presented to our clinic with the painless swelling on her left side of the corpus of the mandible. Clinical and radiological examinations showed bony expansion on vestibular side of the alveolar bone and the inferior side of the mandible. Preoperative biopsy named the lesion as mandibular fibrous dysplasia. Recontouring of the involved bone was performed for esthetic reasons under local anesthesia. Recurrence was observed at the first year follow-up. The patient has been kept under control for 2 years and no more progression was observed. In the present article, we aimed to report our case and to discuss the treatment choices of fibrous dysplasia.
