Özet

Kadına yönelik aile içi şiddet, ülkeler ve bireyler arası kültürel, ekonomik ve sosyal farklılıklara bağlı olarak değişimler göstermekle birlikte tarih boyunca her toplumda karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Sunulan çalışmada, Eskişehir il merkezinde eş şiddeti nedeniyle kolluk ve yargı birimlerine başvuran kadınlarla ilgili demografik bilgilerin elde edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla eş şiddeti nedeniyle yönlendirilen 79 kadınla yüz yüze görüşme yapılmıştır. Kadınların % 59,5’i ev hanımı olduğunu, % 32,9’u evlendikten sonra ilk 1 ay içinde şiddet görmeye başladığını, % 41,8’i ev işlerini eksik yapma, eve geç kalma gerekçesiyle şiddet gördüğünü, % 73,4’ü kendi annelerinin de babaları tarafından dövüldüğünü ifade etmişlerdir. Kadına yönelik şiddetle mücadelede kısa dönemde, kadın sığınma evlerinin yaygınlaştırılması, şartlarının iyileştirilmesi, şiddet gören kadınların ve çocuklarının sosyal olarak desteklenmesi, uzun dönemde, toplumsal cinsiyetçi yaklaşıma son verilmesi için, toplumun her basamağına eğitim vermek gerektiği düşünülmektedir.
