Abstract

This study examines how ESG-linked green production practices are integrated into the strategies of textile firms in Türkiye operating within EU-oriented value chains and explores their firm-level implications for export competitiveness. The study uses a qualitative multiple-case design based on semi-structured interviews with senior decision-makers from 15 textile firms conducted in November–December 2025. The data were analyzed through iterative thematic coding supported by NVivo. The findings show that green transformation involves both technological practices, particularly in dyeing, wastewater management, and resource efficiency, and organizational responses such as reporting, certification, and supplier coordination. Export-related implications emerged inductively and were mainly associated with EU buyer retention, order continuity, audit and tender eligibility, and commercial positioning. Anticipated regulatory risks and value-chain compliance pressures were distinguished from reported market-related implications. The study contributes to the international trade and sustainability literature by linking socio-technical adaptation to market access and competitive positioning within buyer-driven export value chains.
