Abstract

This study examines domestic tourists' perceptions of consumer-based brand equity for Tokat and investigates the relationships of perceived quality, brand awareness and brand loyalty with brand image. Despite its rich historical and cultural heritage, Tokat is a mid-sized destination whose brand awareness has yet to reach the desired level. Employing a quantitative correlational design, the study collected data through a structured questionnaire from 478 domestic tourists selected by convenience sampling. The data were analysed in SPSS 25.0 by means of exploratory factor analysis, independent samples t-tests, one-way analysis of variance and Pearson correlation analysis. The results indicate that brand image is positively and significantly associated with brand loyalty (r=0.654), perceived quality (r=0.612) and brand awareness (r=0.598). Perceived quality was found to differ by gender and brand loyalty across age groups, albeit with small effect sizes. These findings underscore the experiential foundations of brand equity in mid-sized destinations and suggest that the quality of the visitor experience should be treated as a strategic priority in Tokat's branding efforts.
