The aim of this study is to examine the watercolor paintings of Ahmet Yakupoğlu in the Tuncer Türkkan Private Collection from technical and plastic perspectives and to evaluate the artist’s understanding of watercolor within the context of Turkish painting. The study is significant as it is one of the limited number of studies addressing the artist’s watercolor production through a private collection. A qualitative research method was adopted, and seven works selected through purposive sampling from sixteen original watercolor paintings in the collection were analyzed in accordance with Edmund Burke Feldman’s art criticism method. The findings indicate that the artist developed a distinctive watercolor language through his strong sense of drawing, masterful use of transparent paint layers, successful rendering of atmosphere and light, and interpretation of historical settings and natural landscapes from the perspective of cultural memory. The study reveals both Ahmet Yakupoğlu’s place in the Turkish watercolor tradition and the significance of the Tuncer Türkkan Private Collection for art history.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Ahmet Yakupoğlu’nun Tuncer Türkkan Özel Koleksiyonu’nda yer alan suluboya resimlerini teknik ve plastik açıdan inceleyerek sanatçının suluboya anlayışını Türk resim sanatı bağlamında değerlendirmektir. Çalışma, sanatçının suluboya üretimini özel bir koleksiyon üzerinden ele alan sınırlı sayıdaki araştırmalardan biri olması bakımından önem taşımaktadır. Araştırmada nitel yöntem benimsenmiş; koleksiyonda bulunan on altı özgün suluboya eser arasından amaçlı örnekleme ile seçilen yedi eser, Edmund Burke Feldman’ın sanat eleştirisi yöntemi doğrultusunda incelenmiştir. Bulgular, sanatçının güçlü desen anlayışı, saydam boya katmanlarını ustalıkla kullanması, atmosfer ve ışık etkilerini başarıyla yansıtması ve tarihî çevre ile doğal peyzajı kültürel bellek perspektifiyle yorumlaması sonucunda özgün bir suluboya dili geliştirdiğini göstermektedir. Çalışma, sanatçının Türk suluboya geleneğindeki yerini ve Tuncer Türkkan Özel Koleksiyonu’nun sanat tarihi açısından önemini ortaya koymaktadır.
