Abstract

This study determined the morphometric characteristics of the Karasu Creek Watershed and prioritized its sub-watersheds for flood potential using the Compound Factor (CF) method. A 30 m resolution Copernicus Digital Elevation Model was processed in a Geographic Information System. Four linear, five shape, and four relief parameters were included in the CF analysis. CF values were calculated as the mean of parameter ranks and grouped into five priority classes. The results identified ten sub-watersheds with differing drainage, shape, and relief characteristics. CF values ranged from 3.154 to 7.846. AH-10 and AH-9 had very high priority; AH-4 and AH-2 high; AH-3 and AH-5 moderate; AH-6 and AH-7 low; and AH-1 and AH-8 very low priority. Stream frequency, infiltration number, and ruggedness number were prominent in AH-10, whereas relief ratio and basin relief were prominent in AH-9. Leave-one-parameter-out analyses yielded Spearman correlations of 0.942–0.994, while the nine-parameter analysis yielded a correlation of 0.948. AH-10 and AH-9 retained the first two positions in the nine-parameter analysis. The results demonstrated differences in flood potential among the sub-watersheds, with AH-10 and AH-9 having the highest priorities.

Özet

Bu çalışmada Karasu Deresi Yağış Havzası’nın morfometrik özellikleri belirlenmiş ve alt havzalar taşkın potansiyeli açısından Compound Factor (CF) yöntemiyle önceliklendirilmiştir. Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri ortamında 30 m çözünürlüklü Copernicus Sayısal Yükseklik Modelinden yararlanılmıştır. CF hesabında dört doğrusal, beş şekil ve dört rölyef parametresi kullanılmıştır. Parametrelere verilen sıra değerlerinin ortalaması alınarak hesaplanan CF değerleri beş öncelik sınıfında değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular, araştırma alanında belirlenen on alt havzanın drenaj ağı, şekil ve rölyef özellikleri bakımından farklılaştığını göstermiştir.
